Muslims urged to conform to rules of acceptable behaviour

Kumasi, Sept. 21, GNA – Sheikh Mohammed Kamil Mohammed, Ashanti Regional Imam of the Al-Sunna Wal Jamaa, has counselled Muslims to lead pure lives and stay away from acts that are bad for the image of the Islamic religion.

He said it was important they respected the laws of the country and conformed to the rules of acceptable behaviour. Sheikh Mohammed was offering prayers to mark the Eid-ul-Fitr, the end of the Ramadan, the holy month of prayers and fasting, at Old-Tafo in Kumasi. Thousands of members of the Al-Sunna Sect congregated to observe the annual religious festival. Sheikh Mohammed stressed the need for Muslims to brace secular education to enable them not only to have their fair share of existing opportunities in the society but to make meaningful contribution to national development. He said it was also his hope that the period of spiritual cleansing and renewal would spur them to constantly read the Holy Quran and to live by its teachings. Prayers were said for Allah’s guidance for the nation’s political leadership to uphold the rule of law and avoid the abuse of power.
