Muslims across the globe are expected to mark the first day of Ramadan tomorrow [Monday] June 6, 2016 after it was confirmed that the moon crescent, has been seen.
More than 1.5 billion Muslims around the world will mark the month, during which believers abstain from eating, drinking, smoking and having martial relations from dawn until sunset. They also try to avoid evil thoughts and deeds.
Ramadan is sacred to Muslims because tradition says the Koran was revealed to their prophet Mohammed during that month. Fasting the month of Ramadan is also one of the five pillars of Islam.
Confirming this to Nyankonton Mu Nsem, the Deputy National Imam Ghana Muslim Mission, Alhaji Ameen Bonsu said, Muslims in Ghana are expected to mark the first day of Ramadan tomorrow.
He urged Muslims to take the fasting serious since it is a holy month coupled with blessings.
He urged them to pray fervently and take their prayers seriously. He added, Muslims must pray towards peaceful elections this Ramadan season.
The Ramadan is followed by the Eid al-Fitr festival.
