Muslims snub BA Minister

Muslims in the Sunyani municipality of the Brong-Ahafo Region on Thursday snubbed the Regional Minister, Eric Opoku, when he greeted them during the Eid-Ul-Adha celebration at the Coronation Park, probably because he was too late for the function.

The regional minister’s convoy had to meander through the crowd when he was entering the place.

The Coronation Park was virtually empty when he entered but fortunately, he met some Muslim leaders, including the Regional Chief Imam, at the dais.

When it was time to introduce Mr Eric Opoku to read his message, the announcer greeted four times but there was no response from the few people present. The announcer had to say, “I didn’t hear you” before they responded feebly.

Eric Opuku thanked them on the president’s behalf for praying to Allah to keep on sustaining the peace in the country. He asked them to carry the same attitude into next year, which he said is a political season.

He donated a cow and an unspecified amount of money on behalf of the president to the Muslim community.

He prayed that Allah takes good care of those who have gone on pilgrimage to Mecca to come back safely.

Addressing the Muslims, Chief Uman Umar Abdul-Kadir, thanked Allah for the occasion.

He said Allah sanctified the day for Muslims as a day of sacrifice. He asked them to sacrifice themselves to the needy as was done by their ancestor, Abraham.

He prayed for the pilgrims who are currently in Saudi Arabia and asked the government to continue to support Ghanaian pilgrims to always travel smoothly to Mecca and back.
