Muslims in Gomoa end fasting with prayers

Gomoa Mprumem (C/R), Nov. 15, GNA – Sheikh Hussein Kassim, Imam of Gomoa has called on Muslims to let the lessons of the Ramadan fasting prepare them to be steadfast in enduring hardships.

Sheikh Kassim said the lesson of abstaining from food, water and other comforts of life from dawn to dusk for a whole month should instil in them the sense of discipline, kindness and tolerance to enable them to co-exist peacefully with their neighbours.

He was preaching at an open-air service at Gomoa Mprumem near Apam to mark the end of the Ramadan fasting.

The Imam said the hunger and the thirst they felt during the period of the fasting should remind them of the plight of the poor in the communities to enable them to share the joy of the fasting with them. He cautioned them against going back to the evil things some of them were doing and live as if they were still observing the Ramadan. The Imam expressed concern about disunity among Muslims and urged them to unite to enhance the promotion of the tenets of the religion. Sheikh Kassim appealed to politicians to conduct their activities in a peaceful manner to ensure free, fair and transparent election next month.

He appealed to Muslims to send their children to school. The Imam led the congregation to pray for a peaceful election and also for peace in war-torn African countries. .
