Muslim youth urged to refrain from violence – Mama Nomabo

Saltpond (C/R), Sept. 3, GNA – The Sariki of Saltpond Zongo Community, Mama Nomabo V, has advised Muslim youth to desist from violence and use their energies on useful activities.

Sariki Nomabo, known in private life as Alhaji Ahmed Ben Mahmood, Assistant Chief Pharmacy Technician at the Ankful Psychiatrist hospital, gave the advice at a get-together organised at the end of the Ramadan fasting at Saltpond.

He said it was because of hostility amongst politicians that some people engaged Muslim youth to perpetrate violence against their opponents.

He said Islam stood for peace and urged the youth not to tarnish the image of the religion for a “cup of tea”.

Sariki Nomabo appealed to Muslims not to let the gains of the Ramadan fasting be lost on them saying “the fasting will be meaningless if they should return to their bad ways of living”.

He commended the Muslims for living in peace and unity and urged them to continue to be their brothers’ keepers.

He appealed to the Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Henry Kweku Hayfron and the Member of Parliament for Mfantseman West, Mr Aquinas Tawiah Quansah, to improve the lighting and road network in the Zongo community.

Alhaji Iddrisu Ibrahim, Chief Imam for the Zongo Community, said the Ramadan fasting was to bring Muslims closer to Allah and urged them to uphold the tenet of the religion.
