Muslim sects clash in Tamale

RadioXYZonline.com can confirm that some residents of the Tamale metropolis in the Northern Region have sustained various degrees of injury following clashes at the Northern Star radio station.

The violence was ignited by two Muslims sects, Tijaniya and Al-Sunnah. According to sources in the region, the sects were unhappy with the differences in interpretations given to some Qu’ran verses.

This violence occurred despite the celebration of the Eid-ul-Fitr and the call for peace by many leaders across the country.

Equipment at another radio station, Zaa Fm, were destroyed in a reprisal attack in the area.

The regional Police Command has, with dispatch, deployed police officers to the metropolis to maintain peace.
