Kumasi, Jan. 2, GNA – Chief Ahmed Ibrahim, Ashanti Regional President of Council of Zongo Chiefs, has asked Muslims who will make this year’s Hajj to be good ambassadors of Ghana.
He said Ghana had made a positive mark in Mecca in so far as the annual Hajj was concerned and therefore asked those who would make the pilgrimage this year to sustain that image in the Holy Land of Islam. Chief Ibrahim made the call in Kumasi on Saturday in an interview with the Ghana News Agency on the need for Ghanaian Muslims making the pilgrimage to be morally upright and comport themselves during their trip.
“You must know your mission and rationale behind making the Hajj”, he stated and asked them to view the Hajj as a spiritual journey instead of regarding it as a commercial journey.
Chief Ibrahim asked the pilgrims not to attempt to be associated with drugs to Mecca since the result would be disastrous to anyone who would be caught with any form of narcotic drug.
“Mecca is a Holy Land of Allah and must be observed as such”, he pointed out and appealed to the pilgrims to use part of their time in Mecca to pray for peace and stability for the country in particular and the sub-region in general.
