Muslim community expresses condolence on the death of President

The Islamic Peace and Security Council of Ghana- IPASEC has expressed shock and sadness on the death of President John Evans Atta Mills, President of the Republic of Ghana.

President Mills died at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra on Tuesday afternoon while receiving medical attention after being taken ill a few hours earlier.

A statement issued In Accra on Wednesday and copied to the GNA by Alhaji Khuzaima Osman, Personal Assistant to the National Chief Imam, said the leadership of the Muslim Community in Ghana was very saddened by the unpleasant news and prayed for the soul of the departed President to rest in peace.

It said the Executive Council of IPASEC appealed to every Ghanaian to be calm in bereaving over the lost while they rally behind the new President, Mr. John Dramani Mahama to steer the affairs of the Nation. It also expressed the Muslim community’s heartfelt sorrow to the first lady Dr Ernestina Naadu Mills and the entire family and the National Democratic Congress for the big loss.

“We ask the Al-Mighty Allah to continue to guide us, protect mother Ghana and shower upon us abundant blessings,” the statement said. Long live the Republic of Ghana. Yours in the service to the Nation.**
