Murtala Mohammed threatens to sue Owusu-Bempah

Deputy Minister of Information and Media Relations, Murtala Mohamed, has threatened to take legal action against the Deputy Communications Director of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Ernest Owusu-Bempah, for alleging he is a fraudster.

According to the Deputy Minister of Information and Media Relations, this is not to prevent criticism as he is not above reproach, but he would not allow a deliberate fabrication of stories about his persona aimed at damaging his reputation.

“…if this thing persists, I would have to take legal action to deal with him,” he fumed on Metro TV’s ‘Good Morning Ghana’ programme.

This warning comes on the back of a claim by Ernest Owusu-Bempah that the Deputy Minister of Information “was arrested in Nigeria in connection with visa fraud”.

He further dared Hon. Murtala Mohammed to come out and deny the story “If he is a man”.

“…he should come out and dare me. I have my evidence; he should publicly come out to defend himself. I don’t fear him. He should tell Ghanaians whether he is not a visa fraudster,” he dared.

But the out-spoken Murtala Mohammed believes it is an attempt by his detractors who have failed to shut him down, to use dubious means to tarnish his image.
