Murderers of Asante Mampong driver identified as armed robbers

Kumasi, April 16, GNA – Three suspects who were arrested in Kumasi in connection with the murder of a taxi driver at Asante Mampong have been identified as notorious armed robbers operating in the city. Deniel Domenu, 26, Edward Arthur, 25 and Domfeh, 26, were on Wednesday identified by some of their victims mostly women at a police identification parade in Kumasi.

Briefing the press Superintendent John Ernest Owusu, Regional Crime Officer said on January 29, the suspected robbers picked three students at Ayeduase and robbed them of their monies and mobile phones. He said the members of the gang have been on police wanted list since 2007, adding that on December 10, 2007, for instance, Ebo, Domenu, together with Angelina Afedzi, 25, who is now serving a 10-year jail term, picked a woman at “TUC” in Kumasi and robbed her of her money, phones and jeans trousers.

The victim, he said, lodged a complaint at the Ridge Police Station that led to the arrest of Angelina who later led the police to arrest the others.

He said on October 1, 2007, the group robbed and raped another victim at Daban and also snatched a lady’s Toyota Corolla. Superintendent Owusu said they will be arraigned and appealed to the public to assist the police in curbing crime.
