Murderer goes in for life.

Accra Aug 12, GNA – A 20-year-old unemployed man, who stabbed his peer to death after a fight about three years ago at Nungua was on Tuesday sentenced to life imprisonment by a High Court in Accra.

A seven-member jury returned a verdict of guilty against Seth Bortei Mensah for murdering Odei Lartey, 18, in a case over which, Mrs Justice Avril Anin-Yeboah presided.

The evidence before the court was that on August 24, 2000, at about 1900 hours, Mensah and Lartey, the deceased were in the company of friends.

The Prosecutor, Mrs Edith Attakorah Obobisah, Assistant State Attorney, said Mensah picked a quarrel with the deceased without any provocation resulting in a fight but they were separated.

On August 26, 2000, at about 1900 hours Mensah met Lartey and stabbed him in his neck with a knife and he died later at the Tema General Hospital.
