Muntaka to step down as Chief Whip?

Minority chief whip Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak will be stepping down following bribery scandal that hit Parliament weeks ago, Ultimatefmonline.com has gathered.

It is unclear what might have triggered this decision but some Ghanaians are asking if the pressure is coming from the minority or otherwise.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Asawase constituency is accused of giving bribes to the minority through the chairman of the appointments committee of Parliament Joe Osei-Owusu.

The MP for Bawku central constituency Mahama Ayariga claimed he heard a rumour that the chairman offered bribes to some members of the committee prior to the approval of the nomination of the energy minister Boakye Agyarko.

But appearing on the ad hoc committee chaired by the MP for Essikado-Ketan constituency Alhaji Muntaka refuted claims that he gave money to the minority.

He added that he never took money from Mr Osei-Owusu as alleged by Mr Ayariga
