Mugabe visits the late wife’s relatives

Sekondi, March 6, GNA – President Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe has paid a three-hour visit to Sekondi, the birth place of his late wife, Sally, and laid wreaths at his late son’s tomb at Kansaworodo near Takoradi. Sally was buried in Harare, Zimbabwe.

At Sally’s family house at Sekondi where the Zimbabwean President held talks with his late wife’s relatives, his wife, the Zimbabwean First Lady, was prevented from entering the house. President Mugabe held discussions with Madam Mavis Hayfron, 99, mother of the late Sally Mugabe and other relations.

Attempts by dignitaries including Mr. Steven Asamoah Boateng, the Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Environment to resolve the issue failed.

The Zimbabwean First Lady thus had to wait in a vehicle.

President Mugabe later laid wreaths on the tomb of his son Nhamo who was born on September 27 1963 and died on December 26 1966, and Dr Mrs. Esther Sophia Booham, twin sister of the late Sally.
