MTN staff mark May Day with Health Walk

Staff of MTN, the communication giants marked the 2014 workers holiday dubbed ‘May Day’ with a Health Walk starting from the head office a Ridge through the principal streets of the capital and ended with aerobic exercises.
The two hours walk saw the senior and junior staff mingle together walk and dance to jama and gospel songs provided by the Armed Forces Brass Band.
The yellow colours of MTN attracted a lot of people especially old men and women who chased the walkers in search for souvenirs from MTN.
Stephanie Abbey, Employment and Industrial Relations Specialist who led the Health Walk praised the workers who turned out in their numbers to grace the day. She said it was a positive venture and hoped the exercise would be regularized so that staff engage in some physical training to keep them alert and improve their performance.
She noted that coming together for such purposes also creates more unity and enables the seniors to interact with the juniors without any fear or threat.
She thanked the staff and the few mediamen who joined and participated in the Walk which ended at the Ridge Towers.
Union Leader, Dominic Kouto said it is good for a company to think about the health of its workers and prayed that the programme would be continued ever month.
Amma Benneh-Amponsah, Head of Human Resource in an interview with yours truly noted that every May Day is special for workers and they organized the Health Walk to make MTN staff healthy and physically sound.
She hinted that the exercise was to make the staff feel valued and believed the main purpose of fraternizing and uniting was achieved.
Akim Adedotum, Senior Manager, Project Support Officer of MTN on his part praised his Ghanaian colleagues for their hospitality and value for human life.
He expressed that the event was very interesting and said it was good to make people happy and that is exactly what MTN does.
“We will continue to value human life and offer quality service to our customers, we promise to encourage people to bring out the can do spirit in them” he added.
