MTN donates to Salafest

Accra, Sept 18, GNA – MTN Ghana has provided a sponsorship package for this year’s Eid Ul Fitr celebrations dubbed Salafest. The package comprises GHC50, 000 cash, GHC500 worth of talk time, assorted MTN souvenirs, a full page press advert in the Daily Graphic for the Salafest and GHC500 each of sponsorship for Sala Street jams and cultural display at Nima, Kasoa and Kumasi.

Mr. Archibald Annan, Reputation Research and Planning Manager of MTN Ghana, presented the package to Sheikh Usumanu Nuhu Sharubutu, the National Chief Imam, Imams and traditional leaders of the Muslim community at a ceremony in Accra.

Eid-ul-Fitr is a thanksgiving festival that closes the Islamic month of Ramadan, during which Moslems were expected to fast, be generous to their neighbours and also be reunited with each other and with Allah. Mr. Annan said MTN had always been excited to be associated with the Eid-ul-Fitr celebration, adding that MTN’s continuous association with Salafest was borne out of the company’s commitment to the Muslim community of this country.

“MTN upholds five values – Integrity, Innovation, Relationships, Leadership and the Can-Do spirit and the Eid-ul-Fitr festival, I am happy to say, reflects one of these important values namely the ‘Relationship Spirit’,” he said.
