Accra, Sept. 9, GNA – The management of MTN, Ghana’s leading mobile operator, has donated a set of medical equipment to the management of Wassa Dunkwa Health Post in the Western Region as part of efforts to improve health care delivery.
A statement issued in Accra by the management said the equipment estimated at about GH¢4,500 included; stethoscopes, digital thermometers, scales, assorted sterilizers, examination couches, and a hanging scale.
Others were a variety of forceps, sesa scale, sterilizer drum, kidney trays, vacuum aspirators and delivery beds, as well as MTN souvenirs.
The statement said this was the second set of equipment the MTN Ghana Foundation Secretariat, which is the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of MTN, had presented within the last three months.
Presenting the equipment on behalf of the Senior Manager, Mrs Rhoderlyn Entsua Mensah, Health Projects Advisor of MTN Ghana Foundation, reiterated MTN’s unwavering commitment to partner with government, NGO’s and the society to provide quality health care needs to Ghanaians living in communities where MTN operated.
“MTN has already invested significant amount of funds in support of health projects including the refurbishment of the second floor of the maternity block of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, Princess Marie Louise Children’s Hospital in Accra and many others,” she said.
Mrs Entsua Mensah said 93MTN recognises health and education as critical sectors, which need much attention and has therefore focused its CSR efforts on these two areas since the Foundation began operations in Ghana three years ago.”
The donation to the Wassa Dunkwa Health Centre was in response to a request made to the management by the Executive Director of Needs Care International, Reverend Philip Mensah, who has adopted the community and has for sometime now engineered a number of community projects including renovation of the health facility.
Receiving the equipment, Rev. Mensah and the Chief of Wassa Dunkwa expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the management of MTN for honouring their request.
They pledged to use the equipment to improve health care delivery in the community and prayed for continued partnership with MTN to overcome the numerous challenges facing the district.
The statement said on June 8, this year, the Secretariat presented medical equipment estimated at about GH¢30,000 to the management of Kotokuom Health Centre in the Ashanti Region.
