Ms Arthur represents NCAP at WTO meetings

Takoradi, March 26, GNA- Ms Emelia Arthur, Deputy general secretary of the National Reform Party (NRP) left Accra for Geneva, Switzerland on Thursday, to participate in international meetings being organised by the World Trade Organisation (WTO).

She would represent the National Coalition Against Water Privatisation (NCAP) at a meeting that would deliberate extensively on the General Agreement on Trade and Services (GATS) treaty, which has become the major vehicle for enforcing privatisation of water infrastructure by some governments.

A release signed by Mr. Kyeretwie Opoku, general secretary of NRP, Ms Arthur, aspiring Parliamentary candidate for Shama constituency in the December elections would also represent the NCAP at another meeting. The meeting allows representatives of civil society groups worldwide to combine in a single campaign “to fight for a fair world international trade order”, the release said.

Other organisations expected to attend the meeting that would last until March 30, include the Third World Network-Africa, Oxfam, Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy Services international.
