Mrs. Obasanjo Visits Today

The first lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mrs. Stella Obasanjo, begins a three-day visit to Ghana today to attend, as special guest of honour, the launch of the African Women’s Development Fund, at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel.

A press release from the Nigeria High Commission said Mrs. Obasanjo’s visit is a clear manifestation of her love and affection for matters and issues affecting women and children generally. She is founder of the Child Care Trust, a non-governmental organization, which was established to cater for the educational and health care needs of physically and mentally challenged children in Nigeria. The Trust also institutes programs to combat child Labour, as well as rehabilitates abandoned babies.

Mrs. Obasanjo is expected to visit places of interest in Accra before her departure for Abuja on Sunday.
