Mrs Mills urged women to vote massively for NDC

Accra, Oct 9, GNA – Mrs Ernestina Naadu Mills, wife of Professor John Evans Atta Mills, the NDC Flagbearer for the 2004 Elections, at the weekend appealed to women to vote massively for the NDC in the 2004 General Election.

She urged party members, supporters and sympathizers to intensify their campaign, devoid of acrimony, animosity and violence to woo the electorate to vote for the Party.

Mrs Mills made the appeal at the launch of the campaign of the Women’s Wing of the Osu Klottey Constituency of the NDC, at the Blorgodo Gardens at Osu in Accra.

Nii Armah Ashitey, the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for the Constituency, who was a former Chief Executive of the Tema Municipal Assembly, was introduced to the electorate at the launch.

Mrs Mills said the NDC was defeated in the 2000 General elections because of voter apathy saying, “We lost the Presidential race in 2000 because most of our members did not turn out to vote. This time, come out in your numbers and vote massively for NDC.”

On December 7, vote Atta Mills as President and Nii Armah as the MP. Vote for them both for harmony, for Professor Mills needs people from his own Party to execute his good plans for the suffering masses of Ghanaians.”

Mrs Mills reminded the women to work hard and take active part in the activities of the Women’s Wing to sustain it to ensure total victory for Party.

Nii Ashitey said Ghanaians were experiencing high cost of living resulting in very hard times because the NPP had failed to fulfil the promises it made in 2000.

He said the NPP had neglected the poor amidst a low purchasing power of Ghanaians, consequently resulting in a low patronage of goods on the markets.

Nii Ashitey said though the Christiansborg Castle, the seat of Government is located at the Osu township, the NPP Government had left the area, which had a soaring unemployment among the youth to its fate and urged the electorate to vote out the NPP, and replace it with the NDC.

He said the NDC was the only hope for Ghanaians, which would initiate better programmes to improve the lot of Ghanaians adding, “Preach the Gospel according the NDC”.

Nii Ashitey promised to offer better leadership and help the youth unearth and develop their talents when elected as MP. Present at the launching was Ms Frances Essiam, the NDC Women’s Organiser.
