MP’s fuel station demolished at Mile 7

A fuel station at Mile 7 in Achimota, Accra, allegedly belonging to the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East has been demolished by the Ga West Municipal assembly.

According to the Municipal Chief Executive for Ga West, Sam Atukwei Quaye, the fuel station and other buildings which were demolished have been built in water ways.

He added that the fuel station had no permit.

This demolition comes days after a fatal flooding in Accra coupled with a fire outbreak claimed over 150 lives at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle.

The president, John Mahama last week warned that unauthorized structures in the capital and buildings erected on waterways will no longer be tolerated.

According to sources, the MP is in the process of securing a permit for the fuel station.

The demolition was met with fierce resistance by residents of the area who claimed that the fuel station was not in a water way.
