Mpohor Wassa East CPP asks Party’s national executive to resign

Takoradi, Feb. 5, GNA – The Mpohor Wassa East Constituency of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) on Saturday called for immediate and unconditional resignation of the entire national leadership of the Party.

A press release from the constituency branch of the Party and issued in Takoradi, said an interim leadership should be appointed to replace the current national executives.

The press release was signed by Mr Thomas Twumasi Ankrah, chairman, Mr Samuel Yanzu, vice chairman, Mr Francis Arthur, secretary, Mr John Asante, organiser, Mr Percy Ankrah, youth organiser and Miss Victoria Sekyi, women organiser.

It said the national leadership have disappointed the members and executives of the constituency in the discharge of their duties. “Our close observation indicate that they have no vision to bring CPP to victory even if all resources are placed at their disposal”, the release said, adding that while the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the minority National Democratic Congress were moving from strength to strength, CPP was rather “weakening to death”.

The release said the abysmal performance of the national executive had “laid the CPP prostrate” before other parties.

“Since the National Chairman and his leaders are responsible for the failures of the Party, we deem it necessary for the leaders to honourably resign for the betterment of the Party and to restore Nkrumah’s heritage”.

The release said the call for the resignation of the national leadership is also in support of Dr Paa Kwesi Ndoum, Mr Freddie Blay and Mr Kojo Armah, members of the party in Parliament who “held the light when darkness befell us”.
