A 30-YEAR-OLD woman at Maakro, a suburb of Kumasi, was allegedly hacked to death by her boyfriend who later attempted suicide and suffered severe injury in the ribs at the dawn of Thursday.
Ama Achiaa, a hairdresser, was hacked several times by her boyfriend, Kwadwo Mpiani, after the latter had sneaked into her room around 2:00am when she was fast asleep with an apprentice.
Her body was found lying in a pool of blood in the room of her family house by relations and neighbours after they were attracted to the scene by loud screaming for help.
Jude Kuma Danquah, a relation of the deceased, told newsmen there were several cuts all over her body which indicated she was inflicted with multiple machete wounds before bleeding to death.
She was pronounced dead on arrival at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).
Her boyfriend, Kwadwo Mpiani, stabbed himself when neighbours rushed on him to cause his arrest after allegedly murdering the 30-year-old woman with whom he had been living for some time.
Mpiani survived but suffered serious injury and was also admitted to the same hospital under police guard.
DSP Nelson Asumaning, Suame Divisional Crime Officer, who confirmed the bloody incident, said the suspect earlier reported to the police that he had been stabbed by his girlfriend during a confrontation.
According to the police chief, Mpiani was issued with a police medical form to attend treatment in view of his condition.
Soon some family relations of the deceased stormed the police station to make a report of murder against the suspect.
DSP Asumaning narrated that Mpiani was traced to KATH and put under arrest at the health facility, pending further investigation.
DAILY GUIDE gathered that Mpiani killed Ama Achiaa because she had made up her mind to end the conjugal journey between them due to the man’s chronic alcoholic habits.
According to some neighbours who spoke to DAILY GUIDE, Ama Achiaa deserted the killer about two weeks ago and failed to budge in spite of several pleas.
But lover man Mpiani, unable to contain Ama’s departure, decided to inflict that wicked act on her.
