Essikado-Ketan MP, Prof. Dr. Grace Ayensu Danquah, has cautioned that environments where people feel silenced or unsafe to disagree can stifle growth.
Her comments come after controversy surrounding remarks made by Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin about her nomination as Deputy Health Minister.
“No matter how badly they treat you, never drop down to their level. Stay strong, stay calm, and walk away,” Dr. Ayensu Danquah wrote in a Facebook post. She added, “No matter how educated, talented, rich, or cool you believe you are, how you treat people ultimately tells all.”
Dr. Ayensu Danquah emphasized the importance of accepting criticism as part of growth, saying, “Accept both compliments and criticism. It takes both sun and rain for a flower to grow.” She also noted that happiness is not about winning every battle but about contentment, stating, “Happiness isn’t about getting what you want all the time. It’s about loving what you have and being grateful for it.”
Her remarks have sparked reactions on social media, with many praising her for highlighting the issue of intolerance in leadership spaces.
Dr. Ayensu Danquah’s message emphasizes that true leadership is about character, not status or power, and that creating room for different voices to be heard is essential for growth.
