MP provides funds for road works

Nkwabeng (B/A), Aug. 18, GNA – Mr Kwame Ampofo-Twumasi, Member of Parliament (MP) for Nkoranza South, has offered 20 million cedis from his share of the common fund for the gravelling of portions of the road linking Akumsa-Domase-Nkwabeng-Brahoho and Akuma communities to facilitate easy movements of the people and their farm produce.

Mr Stephen Opoku and Mr Paul Appau, both Assembly members of Nkwabeng told the Ghana News Agency at Nkwabeng on Tuesday that the road was so deplorable that drivers refused to ply it whenever it rained. The two Assembly members held that until the recent repair works on the road, farmers in the affected communities could not move their foodstuffs such as maize, yam, cassava, and vegetables out of the area. The communities include Ntanaaso, Krutu, Nankuna, Bredi number two, Breme and Nsunensa.

They commended the MP for his efforts and concern for the development of the constituency and pleaded with him to liaise with the Ministry of Roads and Highways to tar the road. The two assemblymen were grateful to a citizen of the area and a transport owner Mr. Kwasi Baah, for releasing his tipper truck to convey gravels to support the work on the road and urged other transport owners to emulate him.

In a related development, the presiding member of the Nkoranza District Assembly, Mr. Agyei Yeboah has called on the government to expedite action on the tarring of the Akumsa-Domase/Baanofour road.
