MP outraged by desecration of Busia’s grave

Kofi Osei Ameyaw, the Member of Parliament for Asuogyaman Constituency in the Eastern Region, has expressed outrage at the desecration of the grave of Dr. Kofi Abrefa Busia, former Prime Minister of Ghana from 1969 to 1972 and a royal from the Wenchi traditional area.

“I am saddened and outraged by the desecration of the grave of a man who served as my mentor and I have no doubt, the mentor of many million Ghanaians across Ghana and the rest of the world,” Mr. Osei Ameyaw has stated.

In a press release yesterday, Mr. Osei Ameyaw, who is a former Minister, Consul General and lawyer, and a sitting member of Parliament, said that he read the publication in yesterday’s edition of the Daily Graphic with horror.

He said that immediately after reading the publication he called the family.

“I have spoken to the family and told them of my decision to fully fund the cost of repair and restoration of the grave to its former glory. I have not visited the BrongAhafo region but would be doing so shortly to speak to the family, the chiefs and the people on how we can best honour the memory of this great man of Ghana at this time,” Hon. Osei Ameyaw stated.
