MP for Shama wins NDC primaries

Apimanyim (W/R), Jan, 28 GNA – Mr. Gabriel Kodwo Essilfie, Member of Parliament (MP) for Shama, was on Saturday declared unopposed in the constituency’s National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primaries. Nana Toku, the Western Regional Chairman of the NDC, called for transparency and accountability on the party of party executives and members. He said nobody should make the mistake of joining the party to get rich because the party is in power.

Nana Toku said Government funds were meant for development to improve the living conditions of the people and not for individuals or members of the party. He asked members of the party to unite and throw their weight behind the party to enable it to win the 2012 Election.

Nana Toku asked NDC members not to allow themselves to be swayed by rumours of embezzlement of funds by party executives.

He appealed to NDC members to conduct the 2012 electioneering devoid of rancour and violence to preserve the peace and unity of the country. Mr. Essilfie urged members of the party to close their ranks and support him to win the seat.
