Mr Emmanuel Teye Mensah, Member of Parliament for Ningo/Prampram on Friday held a forum to discuss the development of the community and to assist them initiate self-help projects that could be supported by the District Assembly.
The discussions centered on the leasing of lands for investors instead of outright sale, the provision of public places of convenience, the disposal of refuse, the establishment of a district hospital at Ningo, school infrastructure, extension of electricity to other villages, and the poor road from Dawa to Ningo.
Mr Mensah called on the people to bury their political and tribal differences and unite so that “with our leaders within the communities, a number of projects could be initiated to improve the standard of living of the people.”
He said there is the need for them to cooperate with their assembly members and opinion leaders so that they can lead them to take important decisions on the area’s development.
I will not be an MP forever, and enlightened people will only be prepared to offer themselves to serve and lead us if we co-operate to help those we have elected or nominated to lead us.
Mr Mensah suggested the formation of a development committee to support unit committees to prioritise and implement the development projects, so that they can access part of the HIPC fund that has come to the Danmge West District Assembly.
