Kumasi, Oct 29, GNA- Madam Cecilia Abena Dapaah, Minister of State in-charge of Water Resources, Works and Housing and Member of Parliament (MP) for Bantama, on Monday inspected a number of projects in her constituency. The projects were the construction of culverts across River Owabi on the Ampabame-Offinso road, Library at Kropo and the Bantama Sub-Metropolitan office of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS). Mr George Asare, Site Engineer of the Cymain Construction Company said the 30-kilometre road was awarded to the firm six months ago and that 50 per cent of work on the construction of culverts and drains had been done.
Madam Dapaah was satisfied with the work done and appealed to the contractor to execute the project on time.
She expressed concern about unauthorised encroachment at the Berekese and Owabi Dams and warned developers that such structures would be pulled down to enable rehabilitation at the two sites to commence The Minster said the government was committed to development and gave the assurannce that everything possible would be done to improve their living conditions.
The MP expressed concern about congestion at the Claims Office of the NHIS and said the objective of the scheme was to encourage more people to register with the scheme.
She appealed to the office to improve the conditions to make people more comfortable to enable them to patronize the office. Mr Stephen P. Jalulah, Scheme Manager of the Bantama-Sub Metropolitan office of the NHIS said the office had decided to open three more sub-offices at Nhyiaeso, Kwadaso and Suntreso and recruit more service personnel to some of the communities to help reduce congestion and improve its services to the people.
At Kropo, Mr Daniel Gyamfi, former Chairman of the Bantama Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who led Madam Daaah to inspect the construction of Library block said the project has reached the foundation level.
The Minister said the project was being funded by the GETfund and other sources and hoped that the project would be completed on time to benefit communities in the area which include Ampabame, Bohyen, Attafua, Amanfrom, Ohwim and Mpatasie.
Madam Dapaah commended the contractor for satisfactory work done so far and asked him to ensure that the project was completed on schedule.
