MP donates to University of Ghana

Accra, Aug. 26, GNA – Mr George Isaac Amoo, Member of Parliament for the Ayawaso West Wuogon, on Thursday donated items worth 147 million cedis to the University of Ghana, Legon.

The items include 10 computers with accessories, 10 printers, 36 solar lanterns, 20 industrial fans and 16 million cedis for the construction of a washing bay at Akuafo Hall.

The items would be distributed to the University Hospital and all the halls, except Commonwealth Hall. He asked the Students Leadership of Commonwealth Hall to submit their proposals for consideration. Mr Amoo said he presented the items upon specific request by the beneficiaries to help them to address their needs.

The MP said he had spent about 322.236 million cedis of his share of the District Assemblies’ Common Fund to provide for the needs of the University.

Professor George Odamtten, Dean of the Faculty of Science, who received the items, thanked the MP, saying: “We notice that his donation cuts across the entire University except Commonwealth Hall that did not submit its proposals.”

Professor Odamtten called on corporate organizations to assist the University.
