MP donates to schools and gives TV to police

Katamanso, May 28, GNA – Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, the Member of Parliament for Kpone/Katamanso, on Saturday made donations totalling 155 million cedis to schools in his constituency to meet the increasing enrolment of pupils as a result of the capitation grant. The amount came from his share of the Common Fund.

He donated 100 million cedis worth of furniture to 12 schools and gave 35 million cedis to schools at Oyibi for an electrification project, canteen for the primary level and completion of a teacher’s bungalow. The public school at Santoe and Kpoi-Ete villages had 10 million cedis each for the construction of a canteen and provision of potable water respectively.

Nii Laryea also presented a 29-inch television set to the police personnel at Kpone to enable them watch the FIFA World Cup. Making the presentation at a ceremony at Katamanso, the MP said as the capitation grant had increased enrolment, the teachers and children needed good facilities to enhance teaching and learning. Mr Emmanuel Botwe, Circuit Supervisor for Zenu/Katamanso who received the items on behalf of the schools, expressed gratitude to the MP and said the donation had come at the appropriate time because enrolment had tripled.
