MP cautions against double registration

Mr Samuel Kweku Obodai, the Member of Parliament for Agona West, has cautioned Christians against double registration in the on-going Biometric Voter Registration Exercise.

He said double registration, apart from being ungodly, could also lead to imprisonment.

Mr Obodai made this known when he addressed Members of the Agona Swedru Branch of the Christ Apostolic Church International to mark their four-day Easter Convention at Agona Swedru on Sunday.

The MP said God had already chosen a winner in the December 7, Presidential and Parliamentary elections, even before the commencement of the voter registration exercise because it is He who appoints leaders.

He said: “As Christians, what we need to do is to seek the face of God to ensure free, fair and transparent electioneering process to avoid chaos that could spell the doom for the country’s democratic dispensation.”

Mr Obodai, therefore, appealed to Christians, especially the clergy and leaders, to use the pulpits to educate members on the need to register their names as eligible voters.

He warned minors and foreigners to stay away from the registration exercise because offenders could face arrest and prosecution.

Apostle Dr Stephen Amoani, Chairman of the Christ Apostolic Church, (CAC) asked Christians to use the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ to desist from lifestyles that could impede socio-economic advancement of the country.

He said they should also know that the death of “our Saviour has brought economic independence to mankind; and Ghanaian Christians must ensure that the nation enjoys those blessings from God”.

The Reverend Dr P. K Takyi, Agona Swedru Area Head of CAC, called on the members to lead lifestyles worthy of emulation.**
