Bimbilla (N/R), April 26, GNA – Mr Mohammed Ibn Abass, the Member of Parliament for Bimbilla, has appealed to the Northern Regional Security Council (RESEC) to consider lifting the curfew in Bimbilla. He said because of the curfew residents of Bimbilla were forced to sleep in their rooms in the hot weather and this has the potential of causing an outbreak of cerebro-spinal meningitis (CSM).
Mr Abass, who made the appeal in an interview with the GNA in Bimbilla on Tuesday, said the curfew had also affected the social, economic and political life of the people and called for sober reflection from the RESEC on the issue.
He appealed to the government and NGOs involved in the provision of water to assist in his constituency who were faced with acute water shortage.
Mr Abass said most of the boreholes had become obsolete while the dams and dugouts had dried up, compelling the people to drink from unsafe water sources.
He mentioned Chamba, Afayili, Tali, Jua, Juanayili, Sansamongo, Dakpam, Sogon, Bakpaba, Depa, Binchenatanga and Bimbilla as some of the communities that were worst hit with the water problem. Mr Abass, who was in his constituency to explain the different rolls played by an MP, District Chief Executive and Assembly member in the political administration of the country to the people, toured 60 communities.
