MP builds school block

Goaso (B/A), July 16, GNA – A new three-classroom block with store and office for the SDA Junior High School at Kwapong in Asunafo South district of Bong Ahafo has been inaugurated.

The block, estimated at GH¢30,000.00 was funded by the Member of Parliament for the area, George Yaw Boakye, through his share of the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFUND).

Inaugurating the project, the MP expressed the hope that the students would take advantage of the facilities to learn hard and come out successfully so they could help to improve the abysmal performance of pupils.

He gave assurance that he would do his best to help to improve academic performance in the constituency.

Yaw Boakye advised the students to desist from immoral practices like pre-marital sex, smoking and alcoholism, which he said would hamper their academic progress.

Mr Amo Agyemang, head teacher, commended the MP for the gesture, saying the old three classroom block was in a bad shape as its roofing leaked badly whenever it rained.

He said as a result of the deplorable state of the school building most parents had withdrawn their wards, while lack of a toilet in the school compelled the teachers and pupils to visit nearby public toilets.

Reverend Kankam Dwomfour, Asunafo South District Director of Education expressed optimism that the new block would improve teaching and learning and consequently the academic performance of the pupils.

He charged management of the school to exhibit a culture of maintenance to ensure the longer span of the building.
