Kintampo (B/A), Aug. 22, GNA – Mr. Stephen Kunsu, the Member of Parliament for Kintampo North, has said he would not discriminate in the distribution of his share of the Common Fund. He said he would ensure that every community benefited from it to enhance the total development of the district.
Mr. Kunsu was briefing the Ghana News Agency about some projects he had undertaken since he assumed the position of MP for Kintampo North. He said he had provided pavilions for basic schools in the four main zones of the constituency and these are Kadelso, Kunsu, Busuma and Kintampo and that 30 schools have benefited from such facility. He has supported teachers’ accommodation being provided by the communities of Baaniantwe, Kandiye and Gbere. He has assisted 100 students in the senior secondary schools and tertiary institutions, with beneficiaries receiving between 50 Ghana cedis or 500,000 cedis and 100 Ghana Cedis or 1,000,000 cedis. He also distributed 10,000 exercise books to both the public and private schools in the constituency.
Mr. Kunsu said 30 out of the 90 NAPSACK spraying machines he promised to supply to communities had been delivered to farmers.
He has also provided 50 student beds for the Kintampo Girls Vocational Institute and he is working to extend electricity to the school.
Mr Kunsu expressed regret about the destruction of property by fire at Aboagye and some parts of Kintampo last year and said he donated 80 pieces of wax print to the disaster victims.
He however stressed the need for the people to be cautious about the way they handled fire during the harmattan season in order to avert such occurrences this year.
The youth in agricultural development at Asantekwaa, Baaniantwe and Techira have been provided with mango seedlings to go into mango production.
The traditional authorities at New Longoro have also been offered a financial assistance of about 1,500 Ghana Cedis or 150 million cedis towards the provision of office accommodation for the council and the project is nearing completion.
