MP Arrested

The Member of Parliament for La DadeKotopon in the Greater Accra Region Nii Amasah Namoale is been detained by the Offinso Police for allegedly interfering with voting at the ongoing bye-election in the Offinso South Constituency. Nii Amasa who is behind police counter (Counter back) and provisionally charged with disturbing public peace confirmed his arrest in an interview on Happy Fm’s morning show.

He said he was the accredited pollen station agent of the NDC at the pollen station where he was arrested and that he was performing his duty as required by a pollen agent in every election when the police picked him up.

Honourable Namoale said he was accused of distracting the electoral officer at the pollen station where he was assigned. In dismissing the allegation, Honourable Namoale said the NDC had a hint of double registration in the electoral register of the Offinso south constituency and was therefore trying to be vigilant to ensure that no body votes twice but his action was deemed to have distracted the electoral area. There has also been a report of the arrest of two minors who allegedly attempted voting in the ongoing bye-election at the Offinso South Constituency.
