MP appeals to fishermen to stop being their own enemies

Mr Aquinas Tawiah Quansah, MP for Mfantseman, has appeal to fishermen to stop creating conditions which would portray them as their own enemies.

Mr Quansah, a Deputy Minister of Fisheries, said a fisherman out of selfish interest would use dangerous methods and unapproved nets to destroy the resources.

Speaking to fishermen at Saltpond, he appealed to them not to think of what they would get immediately but to think about preserving the sea and its resources for the future generation.

“Don’t blame anybody if you do not get a good catch when you go on fishing expeditions”, he said.

Mr Quansah said the government would get tough with fishermen who would flout the fishing laws.
