MP appeals for rehabilitation of rural roads

Accra, Oct. 31, GNA- The Member of Parliament for Odotobri in the Amansie East District, Mr Samuel Nkrumah-Gyimah has appealed to the government to construct and rehabilitate feeder roads and culverts in the rural areas.

He said the poor state of roads was not only hampering agricultural production and carting of food products to the marketing centres but also create hardships for the people during the cropping season. Mr Nkrumah-Gyimah was speaking to the Parliamentary Press Corps in Accra after a tour of his constituency to interact with the people and inspect a number of development projects being undertaken with his share of the District Assembly’s Common Fund.

He said he explained Government policies, programmes and activities that were aimed at improving their socio-economic development to the people.

Mr Nkrumah-Gyimah who is also Chairman of the parliamentary Select Committee on Youth and Sports said 18 million cedis was spent for the completion of the Fenaso bridge, 12 million cedis for rehabilitation of the 14 kilometre Ewiase to Mile 14 road and 90 million for the construction of a 16-seater vault chamber toilet for the Jacobu township.

He appealed to the people to lend their support to the National Health Insurance Scheme and to ensure that they register and contribute their premium to the scheme.

The Chiefs and people of some of the communities including Bepotenten, Krofofrom, Abuntunso, Daban and Jacobu appealed to the MP for the provision of bore holes, extension of the rural electrification project and fertilizers for cocoa and other food crops.
