Motorists cry for help

Motorists who ply the Shiashie-Okponglo road in Accra have appealed to the authorities to fix one of the traffic lights on that road to prevent accidents, especially at night.

The traffic light, which is adjacent to the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) building, serves motorists heading to Shiashie and on the other side, Okponglo.

It also serves motorists from the Emmanuel Eye Centre route linking to Shiashie.
But currently Today can confirm that that traffic light has been out of operation for several months, creating problems for both motorists and commuters living within those areas.
That worrying situation, this paper gathered, sometimes compel hawkers to leave their
businesses to act as traffic controllers.

To this end, both commercial and private vehicles asked the authorities to fix the traffic light to prevent motor accidents.

“This place has become a danger zone without the traffic lights, especially at dawn and at night,” Mensah, a commercial driver, lamented.
