Motorbike rider dies in accident

Joseph Ayim, of Tikobo No Two, a motorbike rider, died Friday on the spot while his pillion rider, Elliasu, was seriously injured when their motor-bike crashed near Mpataba in the Jomoro District.

The Jomoro District Police Commander, Superintendent of Police, John Ferguson Dzineku, who told the Ghana News Agency at Half Assini at the weekend said this is the second motor-bike accident in the area in the past three months.

He said the first occurred at Nvellenu on May 8, when an Aflao bound car ran into a motor bike and killed the rider.

Ayim and Elliasu, both indigenes Kamgbunle, were riding from Samenye to Nvellenu, on an unregistered motor bike when the accident occurred, he said.

The body of Ayim, he said, has since been released to the family after autopsy at the Half Assini Government Hospital.

Superintendent Dzineku said Elliasu has also been discharged from the Eikwe Catholic Hospital while police investigations continue.**
