A Motor Mechanic, Nurudeen Amadu, was on Tuesday arraigned at an Accra Circuit Court for robbing one Nadiatu Issah of her mobile phone valued at GH¢250.00.

Nurudeen pleaded not guilty, but was remanded to reappear on March 27.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Adu told the court that the complainant, Nadia Issah is a trader and resides at Awoshie whilst the accused person is a motor mechanic at Lartebiokoshie.

He said on March 11, at about 03:20 hours, the complainant was returning to her residence at Awoshie, and on reaching Kaneshie, she sat on the pavement beneath the Kaneshie foot bridge whilst waiting for a bus to her destination.

The prosecution said Nurudeen got down and checked the area for about ten minutes and suddenly went to the complainant, and tried snatching her HTC1 mobile phone from her but failed because she had firm grip of it.

Police Inspector Adu said the accused person ordered her to surrender the phone or risks getting stabbed, Nadiatu attempted running away but Nurudeen pushed her and she fell.

He said Nadiatu threw away the phone, which the accused picked up.

According to the prosecution, Nurudeen after taking the phone mounted the bike to flee, but the bike could not start, so the accused together with his accomplice started pushing the bike away from the scene.

He told the court that the witness in the case mobilized some people and pursued them, but sensing danger, they abandoned the bike and took to their heels.

He said Nurudeen was grabbed by the witnesses after threatening to stab anyone who comes near him.
