Winneba(C/R),July 1,GNA – The Immediate Past Cape Coast Diocesan President of the St. Theresah of the Child Jesus Society of the Catholic Church, Mrs. Mercy Sam has appealed to mothers to inculcate sound moral values into the upbringing of their children.
This, she observed, will make the children grow to become responsible and useful citizens who will contribute meaningfully towards the socio-economic advancement of society.
Mrs Sam said this at the opening of a three-day first diocesan congress of St.Thereash of the Child Jesus Society of the Catholic Church at Winneba in the Central Region on Thursday.
The congress is being attended by 50 delegates from the Cape Coast diocese on the theme, “The Role of a christian woman as a wife and mother”.
Mrs. Sam urged Christian mothers to inculcate in their children, the virtues of respect for the elderly, how to be civil in their language, how to stay away from social vices and concentrate on their education.
A senior lecturer at the Home Economics department of the University of Education, Winneba, Marian Adams asked mothers to be God-fearing so as to bring their children up in the fear of God.
She reminded mothers of their duty to ensure that their children did not grow to become people of questionable character who will become a burden on society, but rather help to advance the cause of humanity.
Mrs. Adams urged mothers to emulate the shining example of St. Theresah and to cater for the welfare of their children.
