Most students in Nandom area cannot pay school fees

Most students at the senior secondary and tertiary levels in the Nandom Traditional area of the Upper West Region were unable to pay their school fees due to abject poverty.

Due to this, the Paramount Chief of the Nandom Tradition Area, Naa Puore Puobe Chiir VII and his people on Sunday launched an education fund to cater for brilliant but needy students during their annual Kakube festival.

Naa Chiir said they had started with an initial five million cedis and charged all the sons and daughters of Nandom to contribute generously to the fund to enable them to achieve their aim.

He said a modality for disbursement was in place and gave the assurance that a committee had also been formed to ensure that the money generated would be distributed equitably among the brilliant but needy students in the region.
