Agona Swedru (C/R), Nov. 15, GNA – The Agona Swedru Circuit Missionary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, Osofo Abdul Majeed Mohammed has exhorted Muslims to make the experiences of the Ramadan fasting to give them the feel for the poor, the needy and the deprived in society. “If we knew what it entailed to be hungry or thirsty, then we should feel for our neighbours who do not have anything to eat or drink and extend helping hands to them,” the Missionary said.
Osofo Majeed Mohammed made the call at Agona Swedru when he led Ahmadis in an open-air service to mark the end of the month-long Ramadan fasting.
He said in bringing joy and solace to the needy and the deprived, Muslims should not discriminate on grounds of religion, tribe or colour and added “by this way they will not do anything to harm or bring discomfort to any member of the human race.”
The Missionary said if that were done they would be able to promote fellow feeling, peace and harmony needed for the development of the society.
Osofo Majeed Mohammed appealed to Muslims to let the lessons of the Ramadan guide them to comport themselves before, during and after next month’s general election.
He said it would be sad for a Moslem who had just completed Ramadan fasting to get involved in any activity, which would bring about disunity in society.
He said the religion stood for peace and urged them not to allow themselves to be misled into doing things inimical to the teachings of the religion.
At Gomoa Potsin T.I. Ahmadiyya Secondary School, Alhaji Ibrahim Adam, Imam of Gomoa Mangoase led the congregation in an open air service, which was attended by Mr Mohammed Ackonu, Headmaster of the school and Mr Nuredeen Nkum a retired District Director of Education.
