Moslem Youth told to live by the teachings of Prophet Mohammed

Sekondi, July 6, GNA – The annual Ahmadiyya Youth Conference, Ljtema of the Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya in the Western Region began at Sekondi on Saturday with a call on Moslems, especially the youth to live by the teachings of the Prophet Mohammed to promote peace and human development. Maulvi Naveed Ahmed Aadil, Western Regional Missionary who opened the two-day conference, which attracted representatives from all the seven circuits of the mission in the region, said as future leaders, the youth must lead the crusade against all forms of indiscipline in the society. They must lead righteous lives, tolerate and respect the views and opinions of others and work to protect the image of the religion. Maulvi Aadil said the conference should give participants the opportunity to take stock of their activities for the previous year and plan new strategies to achieve set objectives.

Mr Wahab Issah Sadr of the National Headquarters of the mission who was the guest speaker said true Ahmadis must continue to pray for peace and continue to rely on Allah only to fulfil his promise to man.

Mr Emmanuel Assan, Regional Youth Coordinator who spoke on the topic, “The role of the youth in the fight against HIV/AIDS,” said the notion by some religious leaders that sexual health programmes promoted promiscuity was false. Instead, he said, it had led to a large extent a delay in the onset of sexual activity and increased the use of condoms among others. He spoke about plans by the government and the Ghana Aids Commission to evolve measures that would ensure the provision of antiretroviral treatment for people living with the HIV/Aids virus.

Mr Assan urged the youth of the Ahmadiyya mission to join other youth associations and agencies to mobilise the entire nation to fight the disease. He encouraged the people to visit voluntary counselling and testing centres to find out their status about the HIV/Aids disease.
