The Moses Armah Foundation, in collaboration with the Efrizaik Foundation, has organized a two-day Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics workshop for Junior High School (JHS) pupils and teachers in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality.
The initiative, which aimed to promote digital literacy and innovation among young learners, took place over two days, with the first day marked by a grand opening ceremony and the second day dedicated to hands-on practical training.
The event was held at the SDA Church auditorium in Bibiani, drawing hundreds of enthusiastic participants.
The programme was opened in grand style with a vibrant display of culture, including traditional music and a choreographed cultural performance.
There was also a well-received poem recitation by a student, reflecting the theme of technology and the future.
The Municipal Director of Education, Richard Boateng , who graced the occasion, described the initiative as timely and forward-thinking.
He emphasized that AI and robotics represent the future of education, industry, and national development. “This is the way to go. The world is moving fast, and we must prepare our children and teachers to move along with it,” he stated.
Mr. Boateng further noted that the programme is of particular interest and pride to the people of Bibiani, as Mr. Moses Kofi Armah, the brain behind the Foundation and a former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai, hails from the area. “When sons of the land return to uplift their own, it inspires hope and progress,” he said. He urged teachers not to be left out of the digital revolution and to fully take advantage of the knowledge being shared.
He added that such training has the potential to change lives and open doors globally. “When our children travel outside the country, they can fit into the global digital job market because they’ve had early exposure to these technologies,” he explained. “This is how we bridge the development gap.”
The Chairman of the occasion, Nana Kwadwo Bonya II, the Atipimhene to the Anhwiaso Traditional Council, who represented the Paramount Chief, Ogyeahohoo Yaw Gyebi II , called on the Omanhene and other traditional leaders to support the course.
He said the time had come for the community to establish a permanent robotics Centre in Bibiani to train and equip the next generation.
“We must not wait for outsiders to build our future. The Moses Armah Foundation has shown the way, let us follow up with action and provide a hub where our youth can learn and innovate,” he stressed.
Nana Kwadwo Bonya also emphasized the importance of equity, noting that today’s world requires equal opportunities for children from all backgrounds.
The programme was also attended by several dignitaries, including educationists, chiefs, clergy, assembly members, and community leaders, who applauded the initiative and pledged support to help sustain such innovative programmes in the municipality.
Key facilitators, Lovis Kwasi Armah and Isaac Gyamfi CEO of Efrizaik foundation described the advantages of the training to the learners.
