Mortal remains of “Burger’s” victim laid to rest

Old Tafo (E/R), Nov. 22, GNA – Police Constable Prince Kwaku Agyare, who was allegedly shot dead my notorious criminal Johnson “Burger” Kombian and his gang, was laid to rest at the Old Tafo Presbyterian Cemetery on Saturday. The 27-year-old police constable was killed on October 17 at Nakpanduri in the Northern Region.

Top police officers attended the funeral including Deputy Commissioner of Police Ofosu Mensah Gyeabour, Director in Charge of Welfare, who represented the Inspector General of Police.

The Rev Sam Asiamah-Koranteng, Old Tafo District Minister of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, said the sermon and expressed concern about the increasing rate of armed robbery.

He commended the police for their efforts in combating crime and appealed to them to step up their operations against the robbers. The Rev Asiamah-Koranteng appealed to Ghanaians to volunteer information on criminals who are hiding in their communities to the police.

In a tribute from the Police Administration read by the Eastern Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police Ransford Ninson, said the late Constable Agyare was enlisted into the Ghana Police Service on November 23, 2007, was hard working and responded to duties anytime he was called. He said the Police Administration had promoted the late constable posthumously to the rank of Lance Corporal with effect from October 01, 2010.
