More YEA ‘ghost’ employees to be deleted from payroll

The Youth Employment Agency, YEA, has cautioned all beneficiaries who are yet to present their documents to do so before the end of June or risk being deleted from the payroll.

Speaking on GH One’s breakfast show, GH Today, the Acting Deputy CEO of the Youth Employment Agency, YEA, Ibrahim Bashiru said the Agency has deleted about 17,000 “ghost names” since they launched a probe into perceived rot at the YEA.

The Acting Deputy CEO YEA, Ibrahim Bashiru says a period of one month is being used to conclude the reports on the payroll fraud.

During this period, the YEA will be going to the various district capitals to check the documentations of the listed beneficiaries of the allowances. Those who do not present the right documents will be deleted from the payroll.

However, those who are unable to make it to the office of the agency in the district capital on the given day can go to the YEA office with the right documents within the one month period. After the period, all beneficiaries who are unable to present their documents will be deleted from the payroll.

After checking the documents of the beneficiaries, the YEA will go to the various facilities to cross-check with them if the beneficiaries are indeed employed and reporting to work as required, according to Ibrahim Bashiru.

He assured beneficiaries that should they present the right documents after being deleted, they will be put back onto the payroll.

The Agency is certain to succeed in removing all ghost names by the end of the month and is appealing to workers to continue working.

“Allowances will be paid hopefully at the end of the month,” he said.
