More than 36,000 children to be immunised this year in Doarmaa

Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A), Oct. 16, GNA – A total of 36,696 children aged between zero and 59 months are expected to be immunized in this year’s Integrated Maternal and Child Campaign in the two Dormaa districts.

Also, 22,018 children between two and five years would be de-wormed whilst 33,000 children aged six to 59 months, as well as 1,100 pregnant women, would receive vitamin ‘A’ supplement.

The Dormaa Municipal Disease Coordinator, Jones Anim, announced this at Dormaa-Ahenkro when the Municipal Health Management Committee met to strategize for effective implementation of this year’s immunization exercise scheduled between October 16 and 18. Mr. Anim said the directorate was training 15 team supervisors, eight district coordinators and 66 supervisors for the three-day programme.

He explained that all mobilization arrangements, including gong-gong beating, radio announcements, posters and banners had been done with the hope that the programme would achieve its target. Mr. Charles Kwasi Siaw, Acting Municipal Health Director, appealed to mothers to voluntarily take eligible children to the immunization centres for the success of the programme.
