More Saudi Funds for Ghana

A former Saudi Oil Minister, Sheikh Yamani, is to build one of Africa’s biggest hotels in Accra. The $250 million project when completed would offer great job opportunities for Ghanaians and enhance the city’s landscape.

The current location of the Accra Turf Club’s racecourse is the site for the magnificent hotel. The racecourse itself would be relocated to a site at Abeka.

The Saudis also have good tidings for Muslims in Accra. They are to complete the multi-million dollar mosque complex project at the Kawo Kudi junction is and have already earmarked an amount of one million dollars for that purpose.

A plot of land just behind the 37 Military Hospital owned by the Saudis is also to be used for the construction of an IT school which will be open to all, irrespective of faith.

The Greater Accra Regional Minister Sheikh I.C. Quaye had every reason to be excited when he called a meeting to announce the inroads he has made in soliciting Saudi support for Ghana.

He also announced that an American investor is preparing to build a factory in Ghana, which would create great employment opportunities for especially women in the country.

Sheikh I.C. Quaye told the assembled supporters that the first eight months of the new government was used to plan strategies. With this over, all is set for the creation of wealth for the country.

The new government, he said, had underestimated the nation’s debt at the time of taking over the reins of administration. Billions of cedis had to be paid to contractors for jobs executed at the behest of the past government.

When Parliament re-convenes this week, he went on, it would deliberate on the new government’s budget, as the previous one was an interim one.

Sheikh I.C. Quaye gave the assurance that the coming Christmas and Sallah would be devoid of the usual stress, since government was making available to poultry farmers the necessary inputs to enable them raise and sell birds at affordable prices.

To artisans like carpenters and masons, he said, more work would be available when various contracts are awarded. He announced that contract for work to begin on the Spintex road has been awarded to Taysec as a result of which some of them would be absorbed.
