More than 167,000 Health Insurance Clients in the Agona West and Agona East administrative areas of the Central Region, successfully sourced Heath care with their NHIS ID Cards, between January and December, last year.
During the period, total vetted claims submitted by healthcare service providers working in partnership with the Agona Scheme also amounted to 5,074,013. 44 Ghana Cedis.
These were contained in a report presented by Mr. Josaiah Doam Kittoe, Agona Area Scheme Manager of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), at a stakeholders meeting at Agona Swedru.
Mr. Kittoe said proportions of services and drugs in total claims for the operational year under review indicated that total service cost after vetting of claims stood at 2,734,484.44 Ghana Cedis.
Out of this total, drugs cost after vetting took 2,339,539.00 Ghana cedis.
He said currently the scheme had a total of 58,398 active membership, adding that the total number of newly registered clients stood at 22,794, while identification cards renewals for the first half of this year’s also stood at 43,376.
Mr. Kittoe appealed to accredited healthcare service providers in the area, to co-operate with Health Insurance workers in the discharge of their official functions, to ensure the success of NHIS operations in the two administrative areas.
He announced plans to intensify biometric registration exercise the scheme had launched, and advised people in Agona West and East who had not registered with the scheme to do so, without any further delay.
Mr. Francis Oti Frimpong, Central Regional Director of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Dr Nii Adjei Adjetey and Mrs Nancy Ekyem, Agona West and Agona East Directors of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), respectively, participated.
The three directors took turns to address the 19 accredited healthcare providers who attended the meeting, and advised them to always make sure to render efficient service to the nation.
